The Inspiration Behind Our Artwork

With a love and passion for commercial art and typography from the 1950s and 1960s, we have created a range of original print designs that reflect the artistic style of this period. Our designs include iconic buildings, flora and places of cultural interest or significance in Melbourne, Australia and beyond.

We are based in Melbourne and our products are printed locally in Melbourne with the highest commercial grade pigment inks on premium grade ILFORD 180 gsm matt paper.

The distinctive look of Harper and Charlie’s art is inspired by vintage printmaking techniques, such as the use of coarse halftone screens, slipped registrations, colour bleed, scuffs and scratches etc which add to the look and feel of each design.  Please note these elements have been applied to the art on purpose and are not printing defects in the final design.

The total print size as specified in each product listing includes the shown border around the design as part of the finished image. Please note, the width of the border on each design varies with each print size and varies from print to print, in tonal colour or key lines.  If purchasing multiple Harper & Charlie prints or purchasing a second print to accompany an existing one, please take this visual element into consideration.
